After careful consideration, the Diocese has made the decision to close all schools on April 8, 2024, due to the expected solar eclipse. We will have a Flexible Instructional Day.
This rare event has generated significant interest and concern regarding the safety of viewing the eclipse without proper precautions. The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities. Although eclipses are awe-inspiring, looking directly at the sun without proper eye protection can cause serious eye damage. Given the challenges of ensuring that all students and staff have access to and use appropriate eclipse-viewing glasses and the challenges with transportation issues at dismissal, we believe closing the school is the most responsible decision.
Teachers will give the students their Flexible Instruction Day assignments before leaving for Easter break.
Flexible Instruction Day Reminders:
A Flexible Instruction Day is based on an asynchronous instructional model. Students will log in to their Google Classroom Account. Teachers will assign activities for the students to complete at home for all classes they teach during that day based on their current curriculum. Assignments will also be posted to their Google Classroom Accounts. Teachers will be available to answer any questions the parents or students may have via their school email from 8:00 am – 11:30 am and 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm. Teachers will respond to emails immediately during that time in the order that they are received. Students will be responsible for completing all assignments given for all classes they may have during that given school day. Students will have 3 days to complete the assignments that were given. Students will be marked present for that day if assignments are complete and turned in within the 3-day requirement. If they do not, they will be marked absent, and assignments will be considered incomplete.
