Athletics
The Guardian Angel Academy Athletic Board is committed to providing both instructional and competitive sports programs for all students. In addition, the Board encourages sportsmanship through self-discipline, stamina, teamwork, perseverance and dedication. Together with the desire to play fairly and with grace, this character-building approach fosters lifelong skills that enhance individual growth and physical activity.

BASKETBALL
We offer a variety of options for boys’ and girls' basketball including Pee Wee, Developmental, and JV/Varsity programs. All players should have fun while learning basketball fundamentals along with the importance of commitment, dedication, discipline, hard work, and teamwork. The Pee Wee program is open to all students in grades K – 2, the Developmental program is open to all students in grades 3 – 4, and the JV and Varsity teams are open to all students in grades 5 – 8.
The season begins in mid-November and typically ends by mid-March. Practices vary by team.
SOCCER
Our soccer programs are co-ed with levels of development including Pee Wee (PreK-K), Developmental (grades 1-4), JV (grades 5-6), and Varsity (grades 7-8). Guardian Angel Academy belongs to the Diocese of Pittsburgh Soccer League for both Fall and Spring seasons.
Team practices are typically 2 days a week. The Pee Wee team usually practices 1 day a week.
VOLLEYBALL
Our Volleyball program is open to students in grades 4-8. The Girls' team plays during the Fall season. The Boys' team plays in the Spring.
CROSS COUNTRY AND TRACK
Cross Country is a Fall sport and is open to Guardian Angel Academy students in grades K-8, consisting of Developmental (grades K-4), Junior Varsity (grades 5-6) and Varsity (grades 7-8). Our runners range from beginners to those who have been running for several years, and we structure our practices to meet the needs of ALL runners.
Cross Country typically practices twice each week. The season runs from August through mid-October. The Diocesan Championships are traditionally held in mid-October.
Our Spring Track & Field program is open to boys and girls from K to 8th grades. The Novice program covers the Kindergarten to 4th graders, and they compete in the 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 4x100m relay, and long jump. The JV program consists of 5th & 6th graders, and they compete in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, long jump, shot put & turbo javelin. The Varsity program consists of 7th and 8th graders, and they compete in the same events as the JV.
Track practices are usually held 2 days each week at a local track. The season runs from early March to mid-May, weather permitting. The Diocesan Championships are traditionally held the second and third Saturdays in May.
